Virus surveillance system of Bkav Security Company has just discovered a new virus W32.UsbFakeDrive has a speed of infection. Experts say this will be a malicious code to replace the AutoRun virus strains, spread via USB before.
According to Bkav's experts, when opening the infected USB, the user will see another drive in the USB and must open this second drive to see the data. In fact, the second drive is a shortcut that contains a virus file. When the user opens the data, the computer is also infected with a malicious code from the USB.
Previously, the AutoRun virus once raged with the mechanism of opening the drive was to activate the malicious code. That makes the spread of this virus strain uncontrollable. Microsoft was forced to decide to remove the AutoRun feature for USB from Windows 7 and on both Windows XP updated versions. Although the AutoRun mechanism has been removed, with the emergence of W32.UsbFakeDrive, the virus can spread out with a simple operation of simply opening the user's drive.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Director of Bkav's Research Department (Bkav R&D) said: "According to the most recent research of Bkav, in Vietnam, USB is still a common source of virus infection with the rate of up to 88%. With the emergence of W32.UsbFakeDrive virus, this risk will increase in the near future. "
Experts recommend that if the USB has been opened but the data is not immediately visible, instead of a different drive, it should be thought that it could be a virus and not continue to open. Ideally, users need to install antivirus software to be automatically protected.
According to Bkav's statistics, in March there were 2,120 new lines of computer viruses appearing in Vietnam. These viruses infected over 3,707,000 computers. The most contagious virus of the month was W32.Sality.PE has infected more than 328,000 computers.
In March, there were 315 websites of agencies and businesses in Vietnam being hacked by, including 10 cases caused by domestic hackers, 305 cases by foreign hackers.
