According to NASA, on August 5, 2016, the Exploratory Robot used Mast Camera (Mastcam) to capture dozens of frames in the Murray Buttes area, a peak forming in Sharp Mountain in the Gale crater. Curiosity landed inside the Gale crater 4 years ago.

The peak is named after planetary scientist Bruce Murray, director of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which is responsible for Curiosity.
