After downloading Nirsoft software , you just need to unzip it using the File Types Manager tool . The advantage of Nirsoft is that you don't need to install it and can still use it extremely effectively. 

When you double-click or select File Types Manager , you can choose the desired icon. Then, click Edit Selected File Type and then click the 3 dots in Default Icon to set the icon. Finally, you just need to click Ok to save the changed icon for each file type.
