HP ProBook 4310s at competitive prices

The HP ProBook 4310s, the smallest of the US computer business laptops, has a competitive price compared to similar products.

The design is mainly based on plastic material, chiclet keyboard and reasonable configuration .

The HP ProBook 4310s, the smallest of the US computer maker's business laptops, launched after 4510s (15 inches) and 4710s (17 inches), which are quite competitive compared to similar products, only about VND 15 million.

HP ProBook is intended to be a replacement for HP EliteBook's once-famous laptop for aluminum business. But to maintain the competitive price, the design of the main machine is based on plastic material. Same as the ProBook 4510s or 4710s first. The 4310s has two colors, black and red, but the case has "overcome" the disadvantages that are easy to keep fingerprints because of "shadow seven". However, choosing this type of case users will have to pay an additional 20 USD. The ProBook 4310s has a simple design with the case and keyboard cover with red silk. Inside is a shiny black keyboard tray with a strip of speakers and a touch-sensitive row directly above. The green light LED touch keys make the device design modern and eye-catching.

The ProBook 4310s weighs 1.97 kilograms, which is about the same as the 13-inch MacBook Pro, a bit heavier than the Sony Vaio SR (1.86 kg). The compact body with a length and body width is 325 x 228 mm, with an average thickness of 27.3 mm, which is considerably thicker than other 13-inch models.

A new feature in the design of the ProBook series is the stylized "chiclet" keyboard, the floating keys widen, spread out to two sides of the machine without the need for floating bumpers. The rough, scratch-resistant surface keys are very nice to use but are a bit bouncing. The keyboard of the 4310s also has advanced spill-proof (water) features. The touchpad fits well (71 x 36 mm) with a thin rubber-coated surface to avoid slippery when in use.

The ProBook 4310s uses a 13.3-inch LED screen, 16: 9 aspect ratio, resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This is a mirror screen, which has a higher contrast than regular screens but has limited viewing angles. Recline the screen forward or move the angle 45 degrees from the center of the screen, the image will gradually change color.

The built-in speaker is placed right on the keyboard with a large volume compared to the speakers of 13-inch laptops but the treble sound (treble) is very small and distorted, as well as no bass. Therefore, the most effective solution to listen to music is to use a better quality headphone.

The device is fully equipped with communication and connection ports including: 3 USB 2.0 ports, VGA, HDMI, LAN output, Modem, headphone / microphone audio jack and Kensington lock. In addition, the ProBook 4310s has a 5-in-1 multi-card slot as well as an ExpressCard / 34 expansion card slot. The main connection ports are on either side, only the audio jack and memory card slot placed on the front edge of the device. The 2 Megapixel webcam integrates with fixed focus for good light and VGA resolution video.

The ProBook 4310s version evaluates 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6570 CPU, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, and Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics . With the above configuration, the evaluation test results show the performance of the average mid-range laptop.

Benchmark results with the PCMark Vantage software suite reached 3,062 points, higher than the average of 40 points. This result can ensure that the device runs "smoothly" when at the same time opening multiple web browsing tabs with Firefox, both making documents with Microsoft Word, and chatting via Skype and downloading data without any difficulty.

The ProBook 4310 is equipped with a 320 GB 7200 rpm hard drive with an average data transfer rate of 24.8 MB per second, which is significantly higher than the 19.3 MB per second of the ultraportable segment. Besides, the time to boot into the machine's operating system only takes 63 seconds, slower than the average of 3 seconds.

The integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics card only achieved 892 points in the Benchmark test with 3DMark06, which is not comparable to an average of 1,491 points for ultraportables. Therefore, it is not surprising that the "hardware killer" games like Far Cry 2 can only output at 5 frames per second at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

The ability to handle multimedia files is quite good, ProBook 4310s only takes 7 minutes 42 seconds to convert a .mp4 video file (5 minutes 5 seconds duration) into the popular .avi format with Handbrake software, horizontal Equal to the processing time of Sony Vaio SR (price is twice as high).

The ProBook 4310s 4-cell battery, tested by battery test, maintains a running time of 4 hours 3 minutes with - 10 minutes less than the average of ultraportables. The option of an 8-cell battery only costs 10 USD more, but HP still hasn't included this battery in the machine configuration. Besides, with 125 USD more, users will own both EV-DO / HDSPA broadband mobile connection.

Because it is a business model, durability and security are issues that HP focuses on. Besides the spill-resistant keyboard, the ProBook 4310s hard drive is also protected with 3D accelerometer, encrypted data and "care" with many specialized software such as HP Disk and File Sanitizer, HP Recovery Manager, The HP Credential Manager, or HP Spare Key, will give you a hint about the login information if some "bad" day you forget this important information. Or as QuickLook 2 - a simple form of operating system that allows users to check their calendar or check email without booting into Windows but requires pre-installed Microsoft Outlook software.

The fingerprint recognition security feature is not built-in by HP but provides a configuration option for $ 25. But it would be more reasonable if the ProBook 4310s comes with this tool.

And an important feature HP has equipped for its EliteBook series is the Smart Card card reader, which has not been applied by HP to ProBook. And many other high-end features like the DreamColor 16-billion color screen, Blu-ray burner, or EliteBook's scratch-resistant aluminum-magnesium alloy cover.

In the Vietnamese market, the HP ProBook 4310s has been officially distributed and available at many computer equipment stores for VND 15.9 - 18.8 million depending on configuration.
