What is AutoMix in Apple Music?

AutoMix is Apple's new feature that replaces Crossfade in previous versions of Apple Music. It analyzes the tempo of the songs you're playing and uses beat matching to create smooth, DJ-style transitions. So instead of fading out one track and playing the next, AutoMix maintains the flow of the music. For example, if you're playing a fast-paced song, the tempo might slow down a bit to match the next slower track.

How to Enable AutoMix in Apple Music iOS 26

After updating to iOS 26, you open music on Apple Music as usual. In the music playback interface on Apple Music, we select the List icon to see the upcoming songs. Continue to select the AutoMix button located near Shuffle and Repeat to enable this feature.

Once this feature is enabled, songs automatically mix without you needing to tweak settings or needing sliders to fine-tune.
