Google has officially announced plans to close Orkut social networking service on September 30. This is not surprising when Google wants to boost its focus on the ambitious Google+ replacement service, which is connected to its various products.

According to Google, starting today users will not be able to create new accounts on Orkut, but existing users can still access the service as usual. However, Google said it will have a period of 3 months to perform the process of moving data to Google+. To do so, they can use Google Takeout tool, which allows exporting profile data, articles and images.

In addition, the Orkut application will also be removed from Google Play and the App Store after the announcement is made.
