In 2007, after Acer acquired the Gateway brand, the computer brand returned to the Asian market with a new look. Gateway P7804G is one of the products launched during the launch of this brand. The device is equipped with high-end Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS graphics card, while laptops use a graphics card - GPU for other gamers - only equipped with GeForce 9700M graphics card.
Unlike other "big" gaming laptops like the ASUS G70 or the Dell XPS M1730, the Gateway P7804G does not use LED lighting systems - still often complained by many "older" gamers. The Gateway P7804G has a sleek black body with orange metal borders around the keyboard and the front edge, which looks very solid and still very attractive. While other 17-inch screen laptops weigh up to 5 kg, the P7804G can surprise many people with a lighter weight, only 4.11kg.
Like the same laptops, the Gateway P7804G has a large keyboard with separate number keys. Not only is it easier to enter data, but these keys also make gamers more convenient to control when playing battle and tactical games. Moderately touch-sensitive touchpad, with scroll bars and 2 mouse buttons, is very responsive but does not stand out.
Gateway P7804G does not belong to multimedia entertainment laptops, so it is only equipped with keys or buttons to play media files 'basic and traditional', not modern touch keys. But these buttons are covered with a corrosion-resistant layer like the keyboard of the first Motorola Razar phones.
The device is not equipped with 2.1 sound system but only 2 normal stereo speakers. This means that the Gateway P7804G does not have a subwoofer to reproduce the vivid and realistic sound of the "bombing" in the game. Also, the Gateway P7804G does not support Blu-ray drives, but DVD burners are enough for gaming and the Blu-ray drive is far from being a standard drive for desktop replacement machines. Nobody is sure that future games use Blu-ray discs.
The 17-inch screen supports Full HD resolution, giving users the ability to enjoy high-definition movies - HD 1,920 x 1,200 pixel resolution. However, users must be familiar with the black border of the image because the Gateway P7804G screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Gateway P7804G's 'too shiny' LCD mirror screen is easy to blame when used outdoors but in return the high brightness of the screen can partly overcome this disadvantage.

Gateway P7804G uses the most advanced and powerful discrete graphics card in a single GPU gaming laptop thanks to a 1 GB Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS card. While the other two very powerful gaming machines, the ASUS G70 and the Dell XPS M1730, also have a 17-inch screen with two older graphics-based graphics cards, GeForce 8000, which is much more expensive. P7804G can connect to external monitors via VGA or HDMI port.
As of connectivity, this laptop is fully equipped with the necessary ports to meet user needs, but it will be better with many USB ports. Currently P7804G has only 3 USB ports while other machines of the same type have 4 or more. Data transfer is fast and easy with the eSATA port, while the mini-FireWire port and ExpressCard / 54 slot can support other peripherals well. Slot and integrated memory card reader for SDHC / MMC cards, Memory Stick and standard xD-Picture Card.
1.3 Megapixel webcam convenient for video conferencing via Wi-Fi standard 802.11a / b / g / n or connect via Ethernet - Gigabit Ethernet or modem, while Bluetooth serves short-range connection than.

The Gateway P7804G uses the 2.4 GHz Intel Centrino 2, Core 2 Duo platform processor, has up to 4 GB of memory, and a 1 GB Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS discrete graphics card. With 2 hard drive slots, the Gateway P7804G can have a total capacity of up to 640 GB (2 x 320 GB). The overall Windows Experience Index of the device is 5.3 (5.3 for processors and 5.9 for graphics). With such a high profile, the Gateway P7804G is capable of executing any task and playing any game the user wants.
With an impressive 8.912-point 3DMark06 benchmark, the Gateway P7804G is the most powerful GPU-based gaming machine according to Cnet experts' tests. Toshiba Qosmio X300 with Nvidia GeForce 9700M GTS graphics card also only gave 7.062 points with the same test. Only the ASUS G70 has slightly better results at 9,019 points, but this machine is much more expensive and uses up to 2 graphics cards.
The battery life of the device is also very reasonable, it can watch DVD movies continuously for 2 hours 4 minutes with screen brightness equal to half normal. There are no battery customizations, but this is not a problem for desktop replacement machines because they are not used for mobility.
