Specifically, researchers have discovered a small cell type responsible for repairing damaged testicles, which can be overcome to increase fertility.

Donal O'Carroll, stem cell biologist and professor at MRC University's Center for Reproductive Medicine, said: " When we identified this key cell group, we took an important step. To understand what cell repair is in the testes, our study with mice suggests that there may also be advantages in optimizing future human treatment.
