Extract icons from files in Windows with Icons From File
In files like exe, dll or ocx that contain a lot of icons, you want to get those icons to use for different purposes. Icons From File will help you extract icons from any file type and save the icons if you want.
The following article shows how to extract icons from files in Windows using the Icons From File software.
Step 1: You need to download and install Icons From File (IFF) software on your computer. Then run the program.
Step 2: Extract icons.
Method 1: Click on the icon of an open folder at the top left of the software.
The Select file dialog box appears , navigate to the file you want to extract the icon and click Open .
Note: the file has the extension .exe, .dll or .ocx.
The icons in the file will be displayed on the interface.
Method 2: You can click Find files with icons inside to scan for folders.
You can select the folder to be scanned in the Folder to scan section , the files containing the icons in the folder of your choice will be displayed in the Find files (.dll, .exe, .ocx) section with icons.
You just need to click on the file, the icons will be displayed on the interface, you can also choose the minimum number of icons that the program will display in the Minimum number of icons box . If you want Icons From File to scan all subfolders in the folder you have selected, then check the Include subfolders box .
Step 3: Save icons.
After you have extracted the desired icon, you need to save the icon. The program supports file saving formats: ico, bmp, jpg, emf, gif, png, htm, html, dbf.
You can save the icons of your choice by clicking the icon you want to save and clicking the Save icon -> Save Selected (or Ctrl + S key combination ).
To save all the icons on the program interface, click the Save icon -> Save All -> select the format for all icons .
Then select the folder containing the icon and save.
