China Mobile plans to deploy 5 5G cities in China

According to a report by RCR Wireless, China Mobile, the world's largest mobile phone operator, will launch the world's largest test 5G network model in five Chinese cities this year. Initially, China Mobile's 5G test network will place more than 500 base stations across Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuhan to provide outdoor 5G services. The company also said it will launch small-scale trials, focusing on applications in 12 cities, including Beijing and Shenzhen.

China Mobile said that these new networks are for testing purposes only, but this could be a preparation for them to launch a commercial 5G network service in China. This project is expected to continue to be promoted to 2020 with more than 10,000 base stations.
