What are OGG files? How to open OGG files?
What are OGG files? How to open, edit and convert OGG files? The answer will be in the following article!
What are OGG files?
The file with the OGG extension is an Ogg Vorbis Compressed Audio file that is used to store audio data. These can include artist and track (track) information as well as metadata.
The word "Vorbis" refers to the encoding scheme provided by the developers of the OGG format, Xiph.org. OGG files that are not considered Vorbis may include other types of audio compression such as FLAC and Speex, which may use the .OGA file extension.
Note : If not an audio file, the OGG file can be an Origin Graph file. This type cannot be opened in a media player but is opened with a graphing program.
How to open OGG . files
Many music players and audio software can open OGG files, such as VLC, Miro, Windows Media Player (with Directshow filter), MPlayer, Xion Audio Player, Audials One and Adobe Audition. You can also play OGG files online through Google Drive.
Several programs can also open this file type on a Mac, including Roxio Toast and Elmedia Player. Programs like Miro, VLC, Zinf, Totem, and Amarok support playing on Linux.
GPS devices and other media players can support this format, but not Apple devices. This means you have to install an app like VLC or OPlayer HD to play OGG files on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
If you open an OGG file online or drag a local file into Chrome, you can open the file without having to download a separate program. Opera and Firefox can also stream OGG files.
Origin is the program required to open OGG graph files. Origin Viewer is a free program from the same company that developed Origin that allows you to view and copy information from an OGG file.
Note : Modern versions of Origin (starting in 2018) save graphs in the OGGU format instead, but the same viewer, as well as Origin and Origin Pro, can also open that format.
How to convert OGG . files
Several free audio file converters allow you to convert OGG files to MP3, WAV, MP4 and other similar formats. The easiest way is to use an online converter like FileZigZag or Zamzar.
For example, with FileZigZag, you can convert OGG Vorbis Compressed Audio files to a number of formats in addition to those just mentioned, such as WMA, OPUS, M4R, M4A, AAC and AIFF. It can also be used to convert OGG files online even if they are not compressed with Vorbis. Zamzar works the same way.
You can also convert OGG files with a downloadable program if you don't want to upload your files online or if you need to batch convert.
Original OGG files can be saved to OTP using the Origin program, via File > Save Template As . This creates the Origin Graph Template file.
