Structure, principle and installation of 2-way air conditioning
What is 2-way air conditioner? Structure, principle and installation of 2-way air conditioning like? Read our article to get answers to these questions!
2-way air conditioner is one of the most popular cooling, heating and heating equipment, especially in the Northern provinces of Vietnam. In today's article, TipsMake.com will help you learn about the structure, operating principles and how to install 2-way air conditioners . Hope this information will help you!
What is 2-way air conditioner? How to identify 2-way air conditioner
What is 2-way air conditioner? In fact, a 2-way air conditioner or a 2-way air conditioner is a device that has both a cooling function (for use in the summer) and a heating function (for use in the winter). Many families in Northern Vietnam opt for 2-way air conditioning because it can help them:
Save on shopping and maintenance costs: If you choose 2-way air-conditioners, your family will save a small cost of heating. Moreover, the maintenance of 2-way air conditioner is also simple, convenient and much cheaper than maintaining both 1-way air conditioner and heater.
Save energy: 2-way air conditioner capable of heating efficiently without consuming as much power as the heater line.
Using 2-way air conditioner saves shopping costs and power consumption
How to identify 2-way air conditioner is very simple. You can ask the seller directly, or look up product model information on the internet or simply rely on the air conditioner control. If next to the control screen with the symbol 'HEAT' or when the 'MODE' button is pressed on the control several times, you will see that the screen displays 'HEAT' mode, it is 2-way air conditioner.
Structure and principle of 2-way conditioning
Characteristics of 2-way air conditioner
Like 1-way air-conditioners, 2-way air conditioners are composed of basic components such as indoor units (evaporators), outdoor units (condenser units), air conditioners (also called compressors, blocks). ), indoor fan, outdoor fan, throttle valve (capillary tube), gas pipe, control panel, capacitor, gas (refrigerant) . However, 2-way air conditioner is equipped with additional valve reversing and 1-way air conditioning is not available. Reversing valve of 2-way air-conditioner is a 4-door electronic valve, including 1 inlet and 3 reversing gates. This unit is located right behind the compressor to change the direction of the gas, thereby changing the cooling direction of the air conditioner.
2-way air conditioning principle
Cooling principle
- When you turn on the cooling mode on the 2-way air conditioner, the reversing valve is not supplied, door 1 is connected to door 2 by default, door 3 is connected to door 4 by default.
- Gas on the indoor unit is in gaseous state, the pressure is low, the temperature is quite hot, it will be through windows 3 and 4 of the reversing valve, through the liquid gas trap, going to the compressor.
- At the compressor, the gas is compressed, transformed into gaseous state, high pressure, high temperature. After that, the gas will be taken to the air conditioner outdoor unit through gates 1 and 2 of the reversing valve.
- The fan on the outdoor unit blows hot heat out into the environment, causing the gas to turn into a liquid state, high pressure, low temperature.
- Gas in liquid, high pressure, low temperature passes through the filter to remove impurities before entering the throttle valve. After passing through the throttle valve, the gas remains liquid, the temperature is low but the pressure is low.
- Liquid gas, low pressure, low temperature are introduced into the indoor unit. The blower in the indoor unit blows cold heat into the room, causing the gas to gradually change from liquid to gas, having a high temperature and low pressure. At this point, a cooling cycle of the 2-way air conditioner ends, the gas in the indoor unit will continue through windows 3, 4 of the reversing valve to the compressor to continue a new cycle.
Heating principle of 2-way air conditioner
- When you activate the heating mode of the air conditioner, the reversing valve is energized, gates 1 and 4 are connected to each other, doors 2 are connected to gates 3.
- In heating mode, the outdoor unit of conditioning becomes an indoor unit, the indoor unit becomes a hot lump. Gas from the outdoor bureau (in gaseous state, low pressure, high temperature) passes through gates 2, 3 of the reversing valve, through the trapping liquid gas trap, enters the inlet of the compressor.
- After being compressed at the compressor, high temperature gas and high pressure will be transferred to the indoor unit (now the outdoor unit) through gates 1, 4 of the reversing valve. Here, the gas collects the cold heat of the room, gradually turning to liquid, high pressure, low temperature.
- Liquid gas, high pressure, low temperature passes through the throttle valve, switches to liquid state, low pressure, low temperature. Then, the gas will be led through a filter to remove impurities, then go to the outdoor unit (indoor unit). Here, it will radiate cold heat into the environment, gradually changing to a gas state, low pressure, high temperature. After the end of a heating cycle, the gas from the outdoor unit will continue to go through windows 2, 3 of the reversing valve, through the liquid gas trap, go to the compressor to start a new cycle.

How to install 2-way air conditioner
Please refer to the instructions below to know how to install 2-way air conditioner properly technical you:
Step 1: Install indoor unit bracket.
- Locate the indoor unit hanging.
- Mark the locations to drill.
- Use drilling, screws to fix indoor unit bracket.
Step 2: Open the electrical box on the indoor unit, then connect the internal wiring.
Step 3: Connect the pipes to the indoor unit.
Step 4: Install indoor unit on the stand.
Step 5: Connect the indoor unit and outdoor unit.
- Break the tube so that it fits the position of the outdoor unit (outdoor unit).
- Use pliers to flare the ends of the copper pipe, then connect to the outer copper wire.
- Connect the indoor copper wire to the external copper wire.
- Use a wrench to tighten the 2 points connected.
Step 6: Install outdoor unit.
- Measure the distance 2 feet of outdoor unit.
- Use a drill to fix the stand.
- Attach the hot plug to the stand.
Step 7: Connect the copper wire to the outdoor unit, tighten the wrench, then use the hexagonal screw to check whether the gas from the outdoor unit is still working, whether it is leaking outside or not.
Step 8: Connect the electric current to the outdoor unit, insulate the gas valve to ensure that the gas does not leak outside.
Step 9: Vacuum copper pipe and test 2-way air conditioner.
