Qualcomm adds the same depth sensor Kinect to all high-end phones next year
Apple's new ARKit augmented reality technology has made the world of smart phones pay attention, even though it's just sharing ideas, not real applications.
Qualcomm now responds by releasing new depth sensor cameras as part of the Spectra Module Program, which OEM can easily integrate into phones and tablets, providing accurate scanning and measuring the surroundings, perhaps adding digital content.
This camera will have two versions: Entry-Level Computer Vision and Premium Computer Vision, which in turn bring active and passive depth sensors, using Qualcomm's ISP image processing architecture.

Advanced design, proactively uses infrared transmitting waves to create a network of points and shows the depth, distance, and boundary from the distortion of the resulting image, just like Microsoft Kinect but has a resolution Higher resolution, creating more than 10,000 dots with the ability to distinguish small distances to 0.125mm between dots, allowing the camera to read finger movements accurately.
The lower version offers a more energy-efficient passive system, the camera may come with a 16 or 20 megapixel camera. Qualcomm also brought the front camera to read the pupil, can work through sunglasses.
"Deep sensor is becoming an important task in the near future," said product marketing leader for Qualcomm's camera and computer Philip-James Jacobowitz.
