Here are the new features, including real-time editing in the Word app:

  1. New charts in Excel : There are many new charts that have been included in Excel, all based on user feedback. Includes 6 new charts: Waterfall, Histogram, Pareto, Box & Whisker, Treemap and Sunburst.
  2. Edit Word documents in real time : You can see the content that people work on a Word document. To try this feature, save a document to OneDrive for Business and invite your colleagues to join the edit.
  3. Insight for Excel and PowerPoint : Last month, we provided Insights for Word and Outlook, now we brought it to Excel and PowerPoint. As a reminder, Insights, powered by Bing, will give your Office experience contextual information from websites. Discover the feature now, by right-clicking on any word or phrase and selecting " smart lookup ".
  4. Tell Me : Tell Me is a whole new way to search for things you need. Just enter the things you want to do in the Tell Me dialog box at the top of Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook, and you'll get the results and perform the actions you want for that result.
  5. Convert handwriting to text : Use the Insert Equation feature to write a mathematical equation in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with a stylus, mouse, or even your finger, and Office automatically switches equations that you write to text.

Microsoft has yet to announce a specific release date for the official version of Office 2016, but is expected to release by the end of 2015.
