Microsoft will encrypt email, preventing mail forwarding in Outlook
As promised, Microsoft is releasing security-related features on its Outlook.com mail application. Earlier this month, they said online mail users will soon be able to use encrypted mail and have anti-mail forwarding capabilities, making it more secure in Outlook.com. These features were unexpectedly released when Google released its Gmail web update on Wednesday.
Email encryption here means the message will be encrypted end-to-end, preventing hackers from reading the mail content if they can. Recipients who do not use Outlook.com or Office 365 will receive a link to a trusted Office 365 page to retrieve the code once and read the message or re-authenticate. Mail will be decrypted via Outlook.com, Outlook mobile applications and Outlook on the desktop.
'When writing emails in Outlook.com, sensitive information such as social security numbers can be discovered and suggested to you encrypted before sending,' said Kirk Koenigsbauer, vice president of Microsoft 365.
The anti-forwarding feature will prevent forwarders (Forward) and / or copy messages that you send via Outlook.com. All attachments sent through Outlook.com with the forwarding pane will also be encrypted. This means that if the recipient downloads the file and sends it to others, they will not be able to open it. Although it is not possible to save email as a file and send it as an attachment. The content and data exchanged between sender and receiver will be completely private (unless the sender is the sharer).
Outlook is bringing more security features to email
These two features will appear on Outlook.com when you create a new message. The Encrypt menu as a drop-down menu next to the Attach button brings options for message encryption or encryption and forwarding.
Along with the changes on Gmail web version, you can manage mail faster and more efficiently. Gmail is not currently encrypted or anti-forwarding. If necessary, you can search for utilities on your browser.
Two new features added to Outlook are part of a larger security update plan for Office 365. There is also File Restore for individual OneDrive accounts, detecting extortion codes, sharing security links. password protection .
