Lenovo lifted 'class' for ThinkPad Edge

In addition to Intel's Sandy Bridge platform, Lenovo's ThinkPad Edge line is also revamped with sturdy metal casing and lightweight design.

The most prominent of these are the E420s and E220s that own Intel's Sandy Bridge platform with the option of Core i3, i5 or i7. The E420s model is also powerful with discrete AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics card . The above models also have optional hard drive read speeds of 5,400 rpm or 7,200 rpm.

In addition to hardware upgrades, all of these models have been redesigned by Lenovo with a metal housing that is more robust than the previous plastic case. The HD screen mirror layer and standard webcam are also significant changes in this series.

The Edge E220s is the lightest of these models with a weight of 1.58 kg while the E420s is 1.86 kg. Both models are less than 2.54 cm thin.

The remaining models, Edge E420 and E520, are similar in style to the E420s but have a low-profile configuration for cheaper prices.

ThinkPad Edge E220s and E420s will start selling in April with prices of 899 and 749 USD respectively (prices in the US market). The other two models, the E220 and E420, cost from $ 599.
