Instructions for using Clipchamp to edit videos on Windows

Although Microsoft offers a Photos app with basic video and image editing tools, Microsoft has always lacked a dedicated video editor on Windows.

Fortunately, Microsoft has acquired Clipchamp, a web-based video editing application, to integrate its features into Windows 11. Everyone can use Clipchamp to edit videos like a professional editor.

So don't worry if you see Clipchamp on your Windows 11 computer. Instead, let's explore the following Clipchamp tips to get the most out of it as one of the native video editors on Windows.

Add files from phone

Clipchamp offers one of the quick ways to import videos from smartphone to computer. When importing videos in Clipchamp, users will see the option to add videos from their phone. Select From phone and scan the QR code with your phone.

This will open Clipchamp on the mobile web to allow you to select a file and upload it to the Clipchamp server. After the upload is successful, users will see the video appear right under Your media in the Clipchamp application on Windows.

Use available video templates

Clipchamp provides dozens of useful video templates to help users get started quickly and easily. If you want to add quotes, layouts or insert social templates to your video, you can choose a template and continue editing the video. That will save some video editing time.

From the Clipchamp app's main screen, go to the Templates section and select a relevant template for your video. Categories include templates for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, games, and more.

Screen recording and video editing

Screen recording is very useful when learning online. For example, while taking a course via online platforms, students can use built-in tools for screen recording and further editing.

When choosing the Record & create menu in Clipchamp, users will have a few options: only video, keep the screen open behind the thumbmail image, or just capture the screen area. Based on their needs, people can choose one and continue making videos.

Use text to present

Another important add-on for any video editor is text-to-speech converter. Using the text-to-speech tool in the Record & create menu, people can choose the language, voice, speech rate, text input, and pre-test.

If satisfied with the output, click the Save to media button. Add media to the video and change its position to make it appear at the top or bottom.

Add music to video

Videos can become boring without good background music, especially in the intro. Instead of finding royalty-free music from the web, people can go through Clipchamp's default music library and choose a few tracks for their videos.

Use images and animations

The ability to insert original images and GIFs right from the Clipchamp editor is another time-saver. Save time searching and downloading stock photos from the web to import them into Clipchamp. Instead, users will directly search for them through the archived images and add them to their videos.

Similarly, people can add stickers and GIFs (via GIPHY) from the Graphics menu. This won't require leaving the app and then trying to import any GIF images or data into a project.
