As you know, Gmail Offline or Gmail offline can only be used with Google Chrome. You should not install it on a public or shared computer because the email will be stored in the browser memory. For some reason, if you have to do this, be sure to delete the application after completing the task (details of the steps will be guided below).
Of course, you need an active Internet connection to set it up before you can start using offline. Once set up, you can browse email, search, archive or delete them. You can even compose emails and organize them; they will be sent as soon as an Internet connection is available.
Now that you are familiar with the basics, this is how you can get started.
Start using Gmail offline
Download the offline Gmail application
Open the offline Gmail application in the Chrome Web store . Click Add to Chrome (Add to Chrome)> Add app (Add application). Next, enter chrome: // apps in the address bar and press Enter . Find and open offline Gmail.
Enable Offline Gmail
The first time you open the application, you will be asked to allow offline mail as shown in the image above. Select Allow Offline mail and click Continue . It will start syncing your emails for offline use.
Configure offline Gmail
By default, only emails from the previous week are synchronized. If you want to synchronize older emails, click the Gear settings icon on the top right of the screen. You can choose to download email from the previous week, 2 weeks ago or a month ago. Click Apply to save the changes.
In the same setting, you can choose to set Vacation Responder . This is an automated response message that you can send as a reply to any incoming email. This allows you to inform people that you are not currently accessing the Internet and may take a while to access it again.
Because you are using Gmail offline, it is more likely that you do not have Internet access. In that case, you should set the Vacation Responder . Here's how you do it:
- Switch Vacation Responder to ON (on) position.
- Specify the start and end dates. Automatic response messages will be sent when answering emails to automatically during this time.
- Enter Title and Message .
- Enable Only send a response to people in my Contacts (Only send feedback to people in my contacts).
- Click Apply to save the changes.
How to access and use Gmail offline
To open the offline Gmail application , enter chrome: // apps in the address bar. Find and click Gmail offline. Alternatively, you can drag the icon to the Bookmarks bar to pin it for faster access.
The interface of the offline Gmail application is based on Gmail's tablet interface. This interface has two frames set. The left pane lists all incoming emails. To access other folders, click the menu button (three horizontal lines) at the top left. Here, you can check Sent, Draft, Trash, Spam or filter emails using Labels .
To search for emails, simply type the search query into the search bar and press Enter. The offline Gmail application takes a lot of Gmail functionality, but fortunately, you can still use Gmail's Advanced search operators to narrow down your search.
To compose a new email, click the Red Compose icon. After entering the message and entering the recipient's email address, press Submit . The message will now be queued in the Outbox folder . Email will be sent as soon as your computer is connected to the Internet.
The right pane shows the contents of the message you selected in the left pane. To reply or forward a message, scroll to the end of the message. Here, click Reply to reply to the sender or click Forward to forward the email.
You can Save or Delete a specific email using the buttons on the top bar. To see additional options, click the small triangle icon upside down next to the Delete button. Here, you can choose to move email to a folder, label, mute, report spam, etc.
If you want to handle multiple emails at once, select emails using the checkbox provided next to it. Click Archive or Delete . Any action you take will be synced with Gmail when your computer is connected to the Internet.

Limitations of offline Gmail
One obvious drawback is that Gmail Offline requires Google Chrome to work . Although Chrome may be the choice of most users, there are many other great browsers out there.
At the same time, Chrome must open all the time to synchronize all emails. It's no secret that Chrome can increase existing system resources , especially on Mac.
Perhaps an alternative that non-Chrome users can use for offline Gmail browsing is to set up an email application to use Gmail . Email clients on the desktop can download your emails, allowing you to take action when offline.
