How to Open Acsm Files on PC or Mac

Windows

Install the free Adobe Digital Editions app. If you haven't installed it yet:

Go to https://www.adobe.com/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html using a web browser.

Click the download link for Windows to get the installation program.

When the file is finished downloading, double-click the installation program (usually located in the Downloads folder).

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the application.

Press ⊞ Win+E to open File Explorer.

Go to the folder containing the .acsm file.

If you can't find it, enter the file name (or just the *.acsm extension ) in the search bar in the upper-right corner of the window and press ↵ Enter. The file will appear in the search results.

Right click on the .acsm file. A context menu will appear.

Select Open with… (Open with). Another menu will expand.

Click Adobe Digital Editions . The authorization screen will appear.

Enter e-book supplier information (optional). If you don't know this information or don't want to enter it, you can skip it. Select your e-book provider from the drop-down menu, then enter your login and password.

This step is useful if you want to transfer DRM encrypted ebooks between devices (up to 6).

Check the box 'I want to authorize my computer without an ID' (I want to authorize my computer without an ID). Only do this step if you did not enter supplier information previously.

When prompted, click Authorize in the pop-up message to confirm your changes.

Click Authorize in the lower right corner of the window. A confirmation screen will appear after the computer is authorized.

Click OK . So you can view .acsm files with Adobe Digital Editions.

macOS

Go to https://www.adobe.com/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html using a web browser. This is the download page for Adobe Digital Editions - a free application that allows users to view .acsm files on Mac.

Click Download Digital Edition Macintosh . The installation package (.dmg) will begin downloading to your Mac.

Double-click the installation package. This is the file you just downloaded.

By default, the downloaded file will be in the Downloads folder .

Double-click the installation package. This file is called Digital Editions 4.5 Installer.pkg (version number may vary).

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the application. Start by clicking Continue , then continue on each screen until the app is installed.

You need to enter the administrator password at the end of the installation process.

Open Finder. This app is in the Dock at the bottom of the screen.

Open the folder containing the .acsm file.

Hold down the key Controlas you click the file. A context menu will appear.

Click Open With .

Click Adobe Digital Editions . The .acsm file opens in Adobe Digital Editions.
