How to avoid Hotmail marking important messages as spam
As a precaution, you can add known senders to the Safe senders list. Hotmail will never treat messages from senders in this list as spam.
The spam filtering options of Windows Live Hotmail are great, and they can send a lot of spam you often see in your Windows Live Hotmail inbox to the Junk folder automatically. But filters are not perfect and they can mislead important mail as spam.

To prevent Hotmail from marking important messages as spam, do the following:
- Select Options> More Options . from the Windows Live Hotmail toolbar.
- Click Safe and blocked senders in Preventing junk email .
- Click Safe senders .
- Enter the email address or domain name you want to put into the Safe senders list in Sender or domain to mark as safe:.
- Click Add to list >> .
If you have registered recipients to the mailing list, make sure their mail is also sent there.
You can also install Windows Live Hotmail only accept messages from known senders.
