Google will block its services on non-certified devices
Google's Android operating system is currently available on billions of devices worldwide. These devices are manufactured by many manufacturers and some are not certified by Google. The tech giant wanted to change and had a big decision to fix that.
Previously, Android's monitoring department discovered that Google has blocked users from Google applications on non-certified devices. Affected users indicate that they receive the "Device not certified by Google" error message, in English 'Device not certified by Google'.
In an official statement Google confirmed this:
"Certified Android devices provide users with a consistent experience when using apps from Google and Google Play Store, as well as various security benefits through Google Play Protect. We acknowledge that one the number of manufacturers is building and selling their devices but not yet certified by Google ".
Google certified devices must pass hundreds of tests to ensure that they "comply with Android's security and licensing model and have software built with recent security updates".
Google also added that certified devices must be delivered to users without pre-installed malware and include Google Play Protect to provide automatic virus scanning and Find My Device. New certified devices will also have the Play Protect logo.
For those with devices that are not certified by Google, Google recommends that you contact the manufacturer or retailer for equipment inspection and certification.
However, there is a way for you to use Google applications even when blocked. Google provides options for devices that run custom ROMs but require Google Services Framework ID. Google can't really know if your device actually runs custom ROMs. So if you get an error message go to https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/ to request device certification. Here you will have to log in to your Google account and provide Device ID to Google for certification.
