All updates of DTCL season 15: Hero War

The Tech City season has officially ended with a grand finale. But when one journey ends, a new era begins. Teamfight Tactics: Heroes War, season 15 of the game, is officially announced.

Here's everything you need to know about the new season, including season mechanics, themes, system changes, and most importantly, its release date.

TFT Season 15 Theme: Anime "Standard"

After 15 seasons, Riot finally brought a true Anime-themed season, something many players have been waiting for. Season 15 revolves around the "Deathmatch Tournament", a classic motif in shounen anime, where the main character must fight through each round to reach the top of glory.

The visual style is full of anime, from the design of the generals, skills to the race system.

The Crew is inspired by the 'Space-Cowboy' sci-fi theme of Cowboy Bebop.

Riot's anime skin lines like Star Guardian and Battle Academia are also returning.

The "A Story of Seven" Tech Core asks players to collect seven golden orbs – a humorous nod to the "Dragon Ball" series. There's also an Isekai Core, dedicated to fans of the 'time travel to another world' genre.

The champion's abilities are also inspired by popular anime – for example, Senna's Super Beam Cannon ability is reminiscent of Piccolo's "Special Beam Cannon" move (Dragon Ball).

New Season Mechanic: Awakening

Awakenings are a completely new variation of the Hero Augments mechanic. This is Riot's way of helping players choose the main character of the match. Awakenings usually appear in rounds 1-3 and 3-3.

All generals can become the main character when using the Awakening Fruit – a special consumable equipment.

When using the Awakening Fruit on a champion, the player will be able to choose one of three custom upgrades specific to that champion.

For example:

  1. Basic Awakening Fruits increase damage or stats.
  2. Awakening Fruits based on the clan, such as Sole Fighter, help the general receive all the effects of the Soul Fighter clan if he is the only unit of that clan.
  3. Unique Awakening Fruits, like Doom Barrage for Varus, allow for more arrows with less energy.

An Awakening Fruit will be given at the start of the match and the player can reuse the Awakening Fruit by retrieving it with the Awakening Magnet item or selling the hero holding the Awakening Fruit.

By mid-game, players receive another Awakening Fruit → a total of 2 main generals are possible. Players can choose to create their own legendary hero or legendary villain. See more about the DTCL Season 15 Clan System for details on clan buffs in this season 15.

System Changes

Riot continues phase 2 of its item system overhaul, starting with season 14. By season 15, a major change has come, with a complete rework of mana generation.

Specific changes:

  1. Previously, energy was created when attacking or being attacked.
  2. Now, Riot adds a new stat: Mana per second.
  3. Energy items will increase energy regeneration per second, instead of directly adding energy like before.

In addition, Riot officially applies the role of general (Role) with clear effects:

  1. Magic Tanks still regenerate mana when hit, but only this role can.
  2. Backline champions like Marksmen and Mages now regenerate mana every second instead of getting hit to gain mana.

Special Champion Design – Braum

Every season has its 'super' champions that make a splash. This season, 5-gold Braum is one such name.

Braum is a front-line tank with the Wrestler and Valiant traits, with the additional Champion trait.

Champion: If a player wins a round with Braum on the field, they gain Fan Poro.

  1. Win continuously, fans accumulate.
  2. Each fan reduces damage from Tacticians.
  3. When you lose, you lose 75% of your fans.

In particular, Braum's El Tigre Tornado skill:

Grabs an enemy, spinning around, stunning and damaging surrounding units.

After a few seconds, throw the enemy - if their health is below the threshold, Braum will swing the chair at the enemy champion, the champion that hits the chair will be thrown straight off the board like Lee Sin kicked the enemy champion in season 4.
