Alienware X51 gaming computer has an Ubuntu version, priced at 600 USD
Alienware X51 is a compact Dell gaming computer launched in January last year. Since its launch, it only supports Windows operating system.
However, this has changed. Dell recently launched an Ubuntu version of Alienware X51, allowing buyers to choose which version to run one of the two operating systems.
The launch of the Alienware X51 running Ubuntu is probably in part because Dell sees the potential (big game) on this open-source operating system, specifically that is the great support from Valve. In mid-February, Valve announced the official Steam version and released a series of titles for Linux. Thus, the launch of Alienware X51 version running Ubuntu will help Dell reduce costs compared to Windows, while the attractiveness of this machine is still not lost.
X51 has versions of Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 chips, RAM can be upgraded to 8GB of RAM, and hard drive has 1TB capacity. The device is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GT545 graphics card or GTX 555. Other features include HDMI 1.4 port, 8 USB ports (6 ports 2.0 and 2 ports 3.0), 7.1 audio, WiFi, gigabit Ethernet. The starting price for the Ubuntu version is 599 USD, 100 USD less than the model with the same configuration but running Windows.
