New generation Alienware M18x has been revealed.
After leaking information about the 2012 version for the Alienware M18x laptop that appeared on Dell's blog, this afternoon, Dell confirmed the official configuration information for Alienware M14x, M17x gaming consoles and M18x.
According to Engadget, these machines are equipped with NVIDIA 600 series graphics chips with GDRR5 memory, supporting new PCI Express 3.0, allowing double the bandwidth compared to version 2.0. Smaller model, M14x, has 16GB of RAM, while M17x and M18x can be upgraded to 32GB.
Contrary to many previous rumors, the 2012 version of this model still retains the Intel Sandy Bridge Core i7 processor, not the latest Ivy Bridge generation.
In terms of storage, these 3 machines are refreshed with mSATA technology, so the storage capacity will be significantly upgraded, contributing to improved performance when playing games. However, along with standard equipment for SSD, mSATA, M18x users may have 23 other options for HDD. M14x alone adds optional equipment with built-in Blu-ray drive.
In addition, the audio system was upgraded with Creative's Sound Blaster Recon3Di High-Definition hardware, although the built-in Klipsch speaker system remains the same.
There is no selling price or official release date for these new devices.
