Click Register with Google . In some cases, you will be asked to sign in to your Google account again.

How to set up API on Janitor AI

Although Janitor AI is currently free to use, an API key is required if you want to chat with the characters.

Application programming interfaces (APIs) are rules that allow different software applications to communicate with each other. The API key for Janitor AI can be OpenAI API key or Kobold AI API key. But these keys are not free.

There are 3 options to get API key. They are OpenAI API Key, OpenAI Reverse Proxy and Kobold AI API Key. The article will use OpenAI API Key as an example to show the API setup process.

Use OpenAI API Key

OpenAI offers a $5 trial, equivalent to about 500 messages. So, if you want to use Janitor AI for free, you can only chat with the character bot for the first 500 messages. After that, you will have to continue paying OpenAI to use their API.

Note : This key is only stored on the local device and never sent to the server.

Below is a step-by-step guide on how to get API from OpenAI

1. Register or Log in to your OpenAI account.
2. Click Profile in the upper right corner of the screen.
3. Click API keys .
4. Click Create new secret key .
5. Name the new secret key and click Create new secret key again to get the API.

Copy and paste the API into the input box below.

Now, it shows valid API key. Click Save Settings and you can start chatting with the bot now!

How to chat on Janitor AI

After successfully setting up your profile and API, you are ready to interact with the different characters available on the site.

1. Explore characters on the Trending page or navigate through other tabs to discover characters that interest you. The Search function is also available for you to find specific characters.

2. Choose a character. This action will direct you to the character's profile page. Click the Chat with (character) button below. Now you're ready to chat with your chosen character.

How to create a character on Janitor AI

1. Start at the Janitor AI home page. Select Create Character , located in the top right corner of the page.

2. Complete all required fields as desired.

3. Upload an avatar to visually represent the character.

4. Choose appropriate tags for your character.

5. Decide whether you want your character bot to be public or private, and whether it is suitable for use in the workplace.

6. After filling everything in, press the Create character button .

7. Your character is now ready to chat.

Note : If your character is set to public, other users will also be allowed to chat with your character.
