Two Kannada inscriptions were suddenly found

Archaeologists have discovered two new Kannada engravings in the town of Srisilam in Kurnool district.

The two inscriptions carved from the rocks appear to the northeast corner of the Mallikarjuna temple next to Karivena Annadana Satram area.

These engravings date from the 14th century to the 16th century and it is considered to have a certain relevance to the history of Mallikarjuna Swamy.

According to archaeologist and historian E. Sivanagi Reddy and Chandrashekara Reddy have confirmed these two inscriptions as a new discovery.

Dr. Chandrasekhara Reddy, author of the book "Inscriptions of Srisilam-I Temple" said that these two inscriptions are completely new and have not been reported or published to date before.

Mr. Sivanagi Reddy, who was also an archaeological consultant for the restoration and preservation of Panchamathas at Srisilam, while supervising the construction, the archeological artifact also followed two stone Kannada inscriptions.

When contacted, Dr. K. Muniratnam Reddy, director of Indian Archeology, Mysore said: "I have received a photo of the Kannada inscription and preliminary tests show that these engravings may belong 16th century Archaeologists need to have a detailed study to understand their content and historical significance.

One of the words written is "Sankara Vasiyanu, Samastha Rachidara, GanacharanamTavadeyaru Bita bidaru" in Kannada language.

The inscriptions are found on the ancient boulders of the 16th century, which are known to be used as the giant Prakara wall of Temple Mallikarjuna.

Historians have asked AP state archeology and museums to take historical records and decode ancient historical scripts to learn and study this new work in more detail.

He also asked experts from the Department of History, Geography and Archeology of Telugu University Srisailam to also support further research on the two records.
