The procedure to open Microsoft Office 2013/2016 in Safe Mode

1. Safe Mode on Microsoft Office application

Just like Safe Mode on Windows operating system, Safe Mode in Office also supports users to fix problems and problems when starting the application.
When you open Office in Safe Mode, you cannot save the form, no toolbar / ribbon customization is allowed, the recovery documents are not automatically restored, all command line options will be ignored, except / a and / h, the option to automatically correct spelling errors is not displayed and documents limit the creation or opening rights.
2. Run Office programs in Safe Mode
The steps to run Office programs in Safe Mode are quite simple. All you need to do is press and hold the Ctrl key and click on the Office application on Start Menu or Start Screen. If a confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to open the Office application in Safe Mode.
For example, to open Word 2010/2013 in Safe Mode, press and hold the Ctrl key then click on Word 2010/2013 application on Start Menu or Start Screen. Now the confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes to open the program in Safe Mode.
In addition to the above, you can apply the following method to open Office applications in Safe Mode:
Just open the Run command window by pressing Windows + R key combination, then enter the winword / safe command to open Word in Safe Mode.
Similar to Word, you can run other Office programs such as Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in Safe Mode by entering the following commands into the Run command window:
- To open Excel in Safe Mode, enter the following command and press Enter:
Excel / safe
- To open Outlook in Safe Mode, enter the following command and press Enter:
Outlook / safe
- To open Powerpoint in Safe Mode, enter the following command and press Enter:
Powerpnt / safe
3. How do I know that Office applications are opened in Safe Mode?
Very simple. When the Office application runs in Safe Mode, on the right side of the title bar, next to the application name you will see Safe Mode displayed.
