Despite the macroeconomic challenges that remain, spending on information technology (IT) services in Vietnam is still growing strongly.
In 2013 alone, it increased nearly 10%, to 446 million USD, it is forecasted that in 2014, the IT service market will increase by 12.7%. This is the market research result of International Data Corporation ( IDC ).
According to IDC, as an emerging market, investing in Vietnam's infrastructure has been developing rapidly. It can be seen that hardware support services continue to dominate IT service spending with 18.9% market share, followed by system integration services with 14.3% and software deployment services with 11.3%.
In fact, in 2013 spending on hardware deployment services was low with 8.8% growth due to lack of demand from the banking, insurance, manufacturing and retail sectors. In general, these sectors account for 41% of IT service spending in Vietnam. However, strong investments in e-government, cloud computing, data centers, and geographic information systems ( GIS ) have stimulated demand for system integration services, helping segment This increased by 9.7%.
Particularly for network integration and consulting services, an increase of 10.1% with large investments in the IPv6 platform comes from the media sector. " Notably, Vietnam's IT services market has matured with emerging trends such as big data, cloud and mobile, " said Ha Ngoc Khuong , IDC market analyst. know.
IDC also found that, due to the lack of advanced technical skills of end users, spending on outsourcing services increased by more than 11%. Currently domestic system integrators are shortening the skill gap by providing better technical support and customer care services to attract users to outsourcing services . Many firms are jumping into this field and as a result create a market with a lot of choices for end users.
Accordingly, IDC believes that in 2014, the IT service market will continue to increase strongly. Of which, the USD 71.8 million IT project and financial sector modernization project of the State Bank of Vietnam will be a strong driving force for the IT services market in 2014.
IDC hopes that the IT service spending of the banking industry will increase again thanks to the demand of new core banking ( big banking ) and big data ( big data ). In addition, increasing spending in infrastructure such as smart grid and smart transportation projects will boost demand for IT-related services such as consulting and system integration services.
