Anti-virus software company AVG has discovered a type of malware ( only affects Android phones ) that can trick users into thinking they have shutdown. When the user clicks on the power button of an infected device, it will automatically activate a fake power off button on the screen. When you click on the option to turn off, only the screen, alarm and notification light are actually turned off and the spyware can still make calls, take photos, receive and send your messages.

This spyware is hidden in some applications that appear on Chinese app stores. So if you don't download third-party apps from Chinese app markets, you're probably still safe.

In addition, there are reports that even hackers and the government can freely read the contents on the computer and the phone through the camera without the users' knowledge.

This type of hack is mainly applied to users who are aware that they are being followed and decide to turn off the computer to be safe. They could not imagine that even turning off the computer was just a spoof of spyware.

The good news is that this spyware is unprecedented and probably won't appear on Google Play apps. Applications on Google Play are scanned for viruses before and after you install them on devices like Galaxy, HTC One, Moto X or any device. If you are loyal to the application on Google Play Store, you will be safe.

If the above statement is not convincing enough, you can apply it more manually and remove the battery completely from the device every time you want to ensure privacy.
