Some video formats are no longer stored endlessly on Google Photos

Since 2015, as long as users compress images and videos before uploading them to Google Photos applications, they will not be charged. But according to the latest notice from Google, from December 6, some video formats that the company does not support will no longer be stored without counting the capacity even if you compress it.

Supported video formats are still stored endless when compressed on Google Photos including: .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v , .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv.

Unsupported formats and capacity calculations when uploading are inferior formats, such as VOB or RAW.

Videos in an unsupported format that synced before December 6 will not be counted on Google Photos.

Thus, users need to adjust their archives if they are using Google Photos application to avoid losing storage on Google Drive.
