Ships traveling around the world for 6 years do not need fuel

During the day, ships use solar energy and wind power, and by night the vessel operates on energy, powered by hydrogen fuel generated by seawater electrolysis.

The Energy Observerand will travel around the world for about 6 years without fuel thanks to energy production.

  1. The car can run through the United States with only 3.7 liters of gasoline
  2. Light bulbs all day without electricity from discarded plastic bottles

On July 15, the Energy Observerand began its round-the-world journey from Paris, France. During the journey, the ship will produce energy by itself with solar panels, wind turbines and hydrogen fuel cell systems. During the day, the ship uses solar energy and wind power, until the night the vessel operates by the energy supplied from hydrogen fuel generated through seawater electrolysis.

In 1983, the Energy Observerand was designed for use in sea races. With the help of a French research institute, Captain Frederic Dahirel and Victorien Erussard spent $ 5.25 million to repair the 30.5m-long ship as a vehicle for the Energy Observer project.

Expected French engineers could open a revolution in marine technology.
