Electronics manufacturer DMP (Taiwan) has just released a netbook called Edubook ($ 100), which can be easily removed in 10 minutes .
According to DMP, this product will be exported to foreign markets and importers can import individual components of this device for domestic assembly to save costs. Edubook netbooks are removable into 10 different modules and components and can be assembled in just 30 steps and take 10 minutes to complete. The product also allows users to choose the components needed to assemble.
Edubook is equipped with 8.9-inch screen and low-power CPU developed by DMP. The device can support Windows XP operating system and use 8 AA batteries for continuous use of 4 hours.
Edubook will appear with main components like CPU, motherboard and monitor but no storage drive or Wi-Fi. That means that if a user wants to use a fully functional computer, they will have to pay more than 100USD. It has the same design as the Nohrtec Gecko Edubook cheap computer. Therefore, if DMP Edubook uses the Nohrtec-like processor, it will be 1GHz CPU Xcore86 compatible with x86 to be able to operate on Windows or Linux.
DMP will start exporting Edubook to the Latin-American market and will attract governments in Eastern Europe and Africa. The company hopes the product will sell 5 million units by 2010.
