In Vietnam, all electronic devices including laptops, smart phones, lithium batteries . are prohibited from being carried on board as checked baggage.

At the airport, when passing through the security inspection area, all electronic devices must be removed separately on each tray to pass through the scanner. This means that whether you store electronic devices in backpacks or specialized bags, you must leave them alone to go through the security inspection area.

When carrying electronic equipment in the form of hand luggage on board, passengers need to pay attention:

  1. The device is carried in the form of hand luggage on board the aircraft if the battery capacity is less than 100 Wh or the weight is less than 2 grams.
  2. The device is carried in hand luggage if agreed by the carrier if it has a battery capacity of 100 Wh to 160 Wh or a weight of 2 grams to 8 grams.
  3. Equipment is prohibited to carry under both checked baggage and hand luggage if it has a battery capacity of over 160 Wh or a weight of over 8 grams.

Note: Battery capacity on electronic devices = battery capacity x voltage.

Example: The battery has a battery capacity of 4,030 mAh and a voltage of 3.8 V has a capacity of 4.03 Ah x 3.8 V = 15,314 Wh.
