Microsoft 'killed' Internet Explorer from June 15, 2022

On May 20, the leading US technology company Microsoft officially announced its plan to permanently close Internet Explorer (IE) browser after more than 25 years.

The announcement comes as IE is increasingly losing ground to rival browsers like Google's Chrome and Apple's Safari.

According to the announcement, IE will officially "retire" from June 15, 2022. In a blog post, Microsoft said its other web browser, Microsoft Edge, will replace IE on Windows 10.

Websites and applications that were once developed against IE will continue to run on Microsoft Eddge until at least 2029.
