Microsoft admits hackers may have read Outlook email and warned users to change their passwords
On April 13, Microsoft officially acknowledged to the press that a hacker had accessed the accounts of some Outlook support staff during the past 3 months, from January 1 to March 28. 2019. Hackers may have gained access to some Outlook.com accounts of users and viewed email addresses, directory names, email topics, but the content of emails and attachments is not.
Currently, Microsoft has completely disabled the login information used in the hack, which means that hackers cannot access the account with the old password now.
Microsoft has sent alert emails to all users with affected accounts and recommended users to be wary of fake attacks and payment emails.
