How to change the Outlook password
You should make it a habit to change your Outlook password regularly. This allows you to avoid unauthorized users and makes your account more secure.
You can change the password for your Outlook.com account as well as inside desktop clients. If you've recently changed the password for your email account with your provider, you'll need to update it in your Outlook desktop app so you can continue to send and receive emails.
Change your Outlook.com password
Changing your Outlook.com password means changing your Microsoft account password. This means that, when you change your password, you'll need to use it to log in to each Microsoft service you use on your device, including Windows computers, Microsoft email clients, and anything else. What else uses your Outlook or Microsoft account.
1. Open a new tab in the browser and go to the Outlook website. Log in to your account, if you haven't already done so.
2. Click the profile icon in the upper right corner and select the My account option . It will open the account settings menu.

4. You will be asked to enter your current password to continue. Enter the password and click Sign in .

7. There is an option called Make me change my password every 72 days that you can activate so that Outlook prompts you to change your password every 72 days. This is a security measure to keep your account better protected.
Change the Outlook password on Windows
If you use Outlook as an email client application on a Windows PC, you'll need to update each time you change your password from your email provider.
This way, Outlook will be able to log in to your Microsoft account on your email provider's server and fetch new emails for you. If you do not do this, Outlook will give errors indicating that the specified password is incorrect.
1. Launch the Outlook application on the PC.
2. Click the File menu at the top to see the main Outlook options.
3. On the right, click Account Settings and select Manage Profiles from the newly expanded menu.

5. You will see a list of all email accounts that you use with Outlook. Select the account you want to change the password in the list and click Change.
6. The following screen allows you to configure the settings for the selected email account. Because you only want to change the password, put the cursor in the Password field and enter a new password.
7. It is a good idea to confirm that Outlook can connect to the email server after changing the password. Click the Test Account Settings button to run the email test.

Change the Outlook password on Mac
The steps to change Outlook password on Mac are slightly different than Windows version. But you can change the password for any account you have set up with Outlook on your computer.
1. Click Launchpad in the Dock, search for Microsoft Outlook and launch it.
2. Click the Outlook menu at the top and select the Preferences option . The Outlook setup menu will open.
3. On the following screen, select the Accounts option to view the Outlook email account.

5. On the right, there is a field called Password. Place your cursor in this field and enter a new password for the account.

Change your Outlook password if your account is hacked
If you believe someone has hacked your account, you should change your Outlook password immediately so that hackers can't log in to your account. If the hacker is logged in and you change the password, they will automatically be logged out on all devices.
You need to reset your password with Microsoft to do this.
1. Access the Outlook website with a browser on a computer.
2. Enter your Outlook email address and click Next.
3. Select the Forgot password option on the following screen. It will help you to change the current password.

In the example below, the recovery code will be sent to the default email address and you can use that code to reset the password.
5. Access your recovery email account and you will find the code in the inbox. Save this code.
6. Return to the Outlook recovery screen, enter the recovery code, and click Next.
