Instructions on creating a tool to randomly select groups of students.

Besides the circle that calls out students' names , teachers can create their own tools to quickly select random groups of students on Gemini, or for teachers who are not familiar with building prompts, they can use the Stopwatching website. Below are detailed instructions on two tools for creating random groups of students.

How to create a random group of students on Gemini

Step 1:

First, you need to switch Gemini to Canvas mode and Pro model mode . Then, paste the prompt requesting you to create a tool to randomly select a group of students from a list into Gemini for use.

Step 3:

On the random group creation interface, enter the list of students and then select whether to divide by the number of groups or by the number of people.

Finally, we click Create Random Group .

How to create a random group of students on Online Stopwatching

Step 1:

First, teachers access the Online Stopwatching website via the link below, then click on the Group Generators option as shown in the image below.

Step 2:

At this point, teachers will see many games that randomly select students from the list of students they uploaded. Choose the game you want to use. Depending on the game, the settings for randomly selecting students will vary.

Step 3:

In the game interface, teachers then click on the gear icon to use it.

In this new interface, first delete the example list in the interface, then import the list of students .

Continue looking to the side and click on Number of Groups to select the number of groups you want to create. Group Size is the number of students randomly assigned to each group. Once you've set it up, click Make New Group to create a group of random students.

Immediately afterwards, we have a list of students randomly selected for each group.
