How to send Messenger messages on Instagram

Meta has integrated Messenger into Instagram, enabling cross-platform messaging. This makes it more convenient for users to communicate without switching apps.

 

1. Important requirements

To use the group messaging feature, you need to update Instagram Direct to the latest version.

This feature works in both directions: you can message on Instagram and vice versa. On Instagram, the Direct Message icon has been replaced with the Messenger icon, making it easier to recognize.

However, this feature does not support group or page chat.

 

2. Update to the latest version of Instagram Direct.

Note : The steps below apply to both Instagram for Android and iOS.

Step 1:  Open Instagram => Tap the Direct Message icon in the upper right corner.

Step 2:  A message will appear prompting you to update Messenger. Tap Update to continue.

Step 3:  After the update is complete, click Continue to proceed.

If you previously selected "Not now ," update it using a different method:

- Click on your profile picture in the bottom right corner.

- Select the three horizontal lines icon in the top right corner.

- Go to Settings =>  Update Messaging =>  Update .

 

In addition, in the latest updates to Messenger and Instagram, Facebook has provided many new features in chat to enhance the user experience and interaction.

3. Instructions for sending Messenger messages on Instagram

Step 1:  Open Instagram => Tap the Messenger icon in the upper right corner.

Step 2:  Enter the recipient's name in the Search box in the upper corner.

Step 3: After entering the username, the results will be displayed below.

Select a Facebook account from the friends list. If you don't see one, click See All to see more results.

Step 4: A message will appear on the screen indicating that you are messaging the Facebook account.

Now you can send messages, and the recipient will also receive a notification.

If the person on the other end is not your Facebook friend, they will be asked to " Accept " the message.

Again, this works similarly if you're messaging someone on Instagram from Facebook Messenger. You just need to search for their Instagram account and both of you will see similar prompts as above.

This method works similarly to messaging someone on Instagram from Messenger.
