How to Comment with Timeline on YouTube
On mobile
Open YouTube. Open the app with the red YouTube icon. To post a comment on YouTube, you need to sign in to your account.
If you're not signed in, tap ⋮ , tap SIGN IN , type in your email address and password, then tap SIGN IN again.
Play videos. This is the video you want to leave a comment on. You can do this step in several ways:
Tap the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the screen, type the video name and tap Search .
Tap a video on the Home screen from one of the channels you recently subscribed to.
Tap Subscriptions at the bottom of the screen (for iPhone) or top of the screen (for Android) and select the video.
Tap the video to pause playback, then pay attention to the timestamp. You should stop the video at the point you want to mention. You will see the timestamp in the lower left corner of the video in giờ:phút:giây.
For example, if you pause a video at one minute and thirty seconds, you'll see the time stamp "1:30" in the lower left corner of the screen.
Scroll down and tap "Add a public comment". You'll see this section below the list of related videos right below the video.
Type in the time stamp that appears on the screen. This step automatically links that timestamp to the time in the video when you posted your comment.
With the example above, you could type "Hey, what happened at 1:30?" (Hey, what happened at 1:30?) to bring attention to your video pause.
Tap the blue "Post" arrow. This arrow is located in the lower right corner of the comment box. Once tapped, the comment will be posted and the timestamp will be displayed as a blue link.
On desktop
Visit the YouTube website . You will see the YouTube home page if you have previously logged in.
If you're not signed in to YouTube, you'll need to click Sign in in the upper right corner of the page, type in your email address and password, then click Sign in again .
Open the desired video. You can type the video name into the search bar near the top of the page and tap ↵ Enter(or ⏎ Return), or you can select a video from the home page.
Click on the video to pause playback, then look at the time. You'll see the timestamp near the lower left corner of the video window, just to the right of the volume icon. This timeline will be displayed in giờ:phút:giây.
You'll also see the length of the video to the right of the current timestamp in the format "current timestamp / video length".
For example, if you pause a five-minute video at two minutes and three seconds, you'll see the timestamp "2:03 / 5:00".
Scroll down and click "Add a public comment". This section is located below the video registration box, right under the "COMMENTS" section.
Type the current time stamp that appears in the video. This step helps associate that timeline with when the video paused when you posted your comment.
Take the example above: You can type something like "Check out 2:03" in the comment box.
Click Comment . This button is located at the bottom right of the comment box. You will post your comments. The time stamp will automatically turn green and be assigned to the desired time.
