Common network connection errors and solutions

If your network connection is misconfigured or technical error, you will see some error messages displayed on the screen. These messages tell the user basic information about the problem.

The following list of common connection-related errors will be useful in troubleshooting network problems.

1. A Network Cable Is Unplugged

The "A Network Cable Is Unplugged" message appears on the Windows desktop. Some other cases also cause this error and each case will need its own solution, including a broken cable or problems with the device driver.

If you have a wired network, you will lose access to the network. If you are connected to a wireless network, your network will work normally, but this error message will become a nuisance because it will appear many times until the problem is resolved.

2. IP Address Conflict (Address Already in Use)

If a computer is set up with a static IP address that is being used by some other device on the network, that computer (and possibly another device) will not be able to use the network.

For example, two or more devices use the IP address 192.168.1.115.

In some cases, this problem may even occur with DHCP addresses (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

3.The Network Path Cannot Be Found

Updating the TCP / IP configuration may resolve the "The Network Path Cannot Be Found" error when you try to access another device on the network.

You will get this error by using the wrong network name if sharing does not exist, time on two different devices or when you do not have access.

4. Duplicate Name Exists on the Network

After starting the Windows computer connected to the local network, you may encounter this error. When the "Duplicate Name Exists on the Network" error occurs, your computer will not be able to access the network.

You may need to change the computer name to resolve this issue.

5. Limited or No Connectivity

When trying to open a website or network resource in Windows, you may receive a 'Limited or No Connectivity' error message.

Resetting the TCP / IP stack is a common solution to this problem.

6. Connected with Limited Access

A technical problem in Windows may cause the "Connected with Limited Access" error message to appear when certain types of wireless connections are made, which is why Microsoft offers a fix in the update. Service pack for Windows Vista systems.

However, you can still find this error in other Windows versions. This error can also occur on the home network for other reasons. You will have to reset the router or connect and then disconnect from the wireless connection.

7. Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)

An "Unable to Join Network Failure" error appears on the Apple iPhone or iPod touch when it is not possible to connect to Wifi.

You can fix the problem the same way you would with a PC when you can't connect to the hotspot.

8. "Unable to Establish the VPN Connection" (error 800)

When using a VPN client in Windows, you may encounter an 800 error when trying to connect to the VPN server. This general message may indicate problems on the client or server side.

The client may be turning on a VPN blocking firewall or losing connection to the local network, thus disconnecting the VPN. Another possible reason is that the name or VPN address was entered incorrectly.
