Android devices will exceed 1 billion mark this year
The number of devices running Android OS is currently increasing rapidly and it is likely that in 2014 this will exceed the 1 billion mark, at least according to data from market research firm Gartner.
According to Gartner , the number of devices running Android including tablets, smart phones or computers recently, will reach 1.1 billion devices in 2014, up 7.6% compared to 2013. By 2017, There will be 75% of devices running Android, mostly from emerging markets.
Meanwhile, Windows will stand at No. 2 with 359 million, up from 328 million units compared to 2013, third is Apple's iOS + Mac OS with 344 million units, up from 266.7 million over last year. Chrome OS also recorded an increase from 1.8 million to 4.79 million units.
Explaining this reason, according to Gartner , it is Android that appears more and more on low-cost, well-configured devices, which are more and more suitable for users, which has accelerated Android sales.
" There is no doubt that the number is overwhelming in quality and users are inclined to buy cheap devices that suit their needs rather than high-end devices like Apple, " said Gartner analyst. Annette Zimmerman said.
According to data from Gartner, in 2014, global equipment will reach 2.5 billion units. In particular, mobile phones accounted for the most with 1.9 billion units. Next is the PC ( desktop + laptop ) with 278 million units (down from 299 million in 2013) , the third tablet with 263 million units (up from 180 million in 2013) .
