This is the first phone announced by Apple and it is not iPhone
The phone, called the E1 Rokr, was released on September 7, 2005, a result of a partnership between Apple and Motorola. It is also the first phone to be able to connect and download music from iTunes.
When it comes to Apple phones, everyone thinks of the iPhone. But there is a fact that the iPhone is not the first phone to be released by Steve Jobs and colleagues, not everyone knows.
The phone, called the E1 Rokr, was released on September 7, 2005, a result of a partnership between Apple and Motorola. It is also the first phone to be able to connect and download music from iTunes.
A special feature is that this E1 Rokr has a dedicated button to enable users to quickly open the iTunes music player in a split second and it supports microSD memory card up to 1GB but limited to 100 songs.
The Rork E1 has a 1.9-inch TFT color screen, 176 x 220 pixel resolution, supports microSD memory card and VGA camera. At the time of launch, the Rork E1 sold for $ 249.99.
But Rokr E1 is the product that Steve Jobs is most disappointed, it does not receive much commercial success.
By 2006, Apple and Motorola officially stopped cooperating in developing Rokr E1. More than 18 months later, the first iPhone was announced by Apple, marking a new era in smartphone industry worldwide.
