How to Set Up Touch ID
Touch ID is a feature of iPhone 5s to iPhone 8, iPad Air 2 to iPad 2018 (except Pro 2018), and MacBook Pro 2017 and later. This wikiHow will show you how to set it up. Go to 'Settings' > 'Touch ID and Passcode'.
Method 1 of 2:
iPhone and iPad
- Go to "Settings" > "Touch ID and Passcode".
- Enter your passcode if prompted.
- Tap on "Add fingerprint". You can have up to five fingerprints stored.
- Tap "Continue".
- Scan your fingerprint.
- Capture the edges as instructed. You may have to rotate your finger around to different positions.
- Repeat as necessary.
Method 2 of 2:
Mac
- Go to "System Preferences" > "Touch ID".
- Click on the "+" to add a fingerprint. Type your account username and password.
- Scan your finger.
- Capture the edges as instructed. You may have to rotate your finger around to different positions.
- Repeat as necessary.
