- Messages you previously sent to your friends will still appear in their inbox.

When Facebook account is locked permanently

- Your Facebook account cannot be reactivated after 30 days from the date of deletion.

Step 1: Log in to your Facebook account on your computer. Next, click on the triangle icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select Settings & Privacy.

Step 2: In the Settings & privacy section, select Settings.

Step 3: Then, select Your Facebook Information and click the View button in the Deactivate and Delete section.

Step 4: Next, select Deactivate account and then click the Continue to deactivate account button.

Step 5: Then select the reason for disabling the account and click the Deactivate button. With the first reason 'This is a temporary action. I'll be back.' you can set the time to automatically reactivate the account from 1 to 7 days. For other reasons, when you log back into Facebook, your account will be automatically activated. 

Step 6: A confirmation window for temporarily disabling your account will appear, click the Disable Now button to complete.

Instructions on how to temporarily lock Facebook on your phone

Step 1: Log in to your Facebook account on your phone, then tap on the icon with three dashes and select Settings & Privacy. Then, select Settings and then select Personal Information.

Step 2: In the Personal Information section, click on Account Management and then click on Disable.

Step 3: Enter your Facebook account password to confirm and click Continue. Select the first line 'This is a temporary action. I'll be back.' and click Continue. When you select this first reason, you can set the time to automatically reopen your account. When you select one of the remaining reasons, your account will be automatically restored when you log back into your account.

Step 4: For the first reason 'This is a temporary action. I'll be back.', select the time you want the account to be automatically reactivated from 1 to 7 days and click the Continue button. Finally, click the Deactivate my account button to complete.
