How to connect the network between two laptops using a network cable
To be able to send data between two computers, we can use email services or online file sending services. However, how do you do if you have an Internet connection and you don't have a data storage device like USB? There is a very simple way to connect to the network between two laptops, which is through a network cable. We only need to connect the two ends of the network to two computers, then proceed to change the IP address of the two computers to be able to share all data quickly. In the following article, we will show you how to connect the network between two laptops using a network cable.
Note to users, the following article we will do with the Windows 10 operating system, the other operating systems we do the same.
Step 1:
First of all we need to prepare the network wire with two standard connectors.
If not, you can manually wire the network. We will prepare Ethernet network cables and some necessary devices including 5 / 5e UTP Cat cables, 2 RJ45 network headers, network cord pliers. Next, we will cut a piece of the outer shell of a UTP cable with pliers or scissors. Remember to lighten and be careful not to damage the core of the network.
The inner core consists of 4 pairs of wires, orange pairs, green pairs, blue pairs and a pair of brown. Swipe straight the ends of the core to make it easier to do network cords. Next, arrange the cable segments in order from left to right as shown below (standard B): white orange> orange> white green> blue> blue white> green> white brown> brown.
After installation is complete, insert the wire clips into the RJ45 connector, then take the pliers and clamp the plastic head when there is a cracking noise. We continue with the rest of the network.
For a better understanding of how to do this, the reader can refer to the 3-step fast, standard network wiring step.
Step 2:
Next we will set the IP address for 2 computers. Go to Start> Control Panel> Network and Internet> Networking and sharing center .
Step 3:
At the Networking and sharing center dialog box interface, look at the menu on the left of the interface and select Change adapter settings .
Step 4:
Next, find the Local area connection icon in the new interface and right-click and choose Properties .
Note to users , with Windows 7 or later operating systems, you will click Local area connection. For Windows 7 or later, the item will change its name. You only need to pay attention to the icon of 2 computers connected to each other via the network cable as shown below. The next steps do the same.
Step 5:
Then click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / Ipv4) and select the Properties button below.
Step 6:
We will select to Use the following IP address , then change the IP of the first laptop with the following configuration:
- IP address: 192.168.0.1
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway: 192.168.0.2
Click OK to save the changes.
Step 7:
The next thing is to change the IP address of the second computer to connect. We also follow the steps above and enter the new IP address below and also click OK to save.
- IP address: 192.168.0.2
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
So we have finished changing IP addresses for 2 laptops already.
Step 8:
Now, select the folder to share on your computer and right-click on that folder and select Properties .
Step 9:
A folder's Properties dialog box appears, click the Sharing tab, and select Advanced Sharing .
In the Advanced Sharing dialog box, check the Share this folder , you can change the name of the folder you want to share, add the message if you want and then click OK to send the data.
So we have completed the network connection between the two computers, so that we can easily send each other folders through the network cable. Just change the IP addresses of the two computers that can be connected easily.
