How to change the background color of text in Word - Many different background styles

One way to decorate a Word document and make it more appealing to the reader is to add a background to the text. Instead of a plain white background with black text, you can change to many different background colors or use an image already available on your computer as the background for your Word document.

There are many different ways to change the background of a Word document, such as basic background colors, background colors with effects, or background colors using images. Depending on your needs, you can choose different background color styles. This article will guide you on how to insert a background color into a Word document.

1. Insert a background color into Word text.

Step 1:

In the document where you want to add a background color, click the Page Layout tab and then click Page Color . In some versions of Word, click the Design tab and then also click Page Color.

Step 2:

A color palette will appear; select the color you want to use for the text background.

If the user wants to choose from more colors, they can select the "More Colors" option.

A color palette appears, allowing users to select the color they need.

The result will be a Word document with a colored background, as shown in the image below.

2. Insert background color with effects.

In addition to inserting basic background colors as described above, users can also change to different background color styles or add effects to the background color.

We also click on the Page Color option and then select Fill Effects…

A Fill Effects dialog box will appear with the following options:

1. Colors: Choose the number of colors and fill color for the text page.

We select the color style with the desired effect, as shown below, and then click OK to save it.

2. Create a text background with a patterned effect.

In the Fill Effects dialog box, click on the Texture tab and then select the background effect you want to use.

3. Create a text background using a pattern effect.

We select the Pattern option, which will display various pattern-based background designs to choose from. You can adjust the pattern color and background color. Press OK to use.

4. Create a background for your text page using an image.

Step 1:

In the Fill Effects dialog box, click the Picture tab , then click the Select Picture button to choose the image you want to set as the background.

Step 2:

A folder will appear showing available images on the computer for the user to select as the background for the document. Click on the desired background image.

Press OK to use this image.

The result will be a text background image like the one below.

If you want to remove a background image inserted in Word, simply select "No Color" .

As explained in the article above, users can choose from various options to add a background image to their Word document. This background image will only be displayed when viewed on a computer or during a presentation; it will be colorless when printed.
