At this point everything went awry because the computer could no longer boot into Windows but always reported those errors every time it started up. 6- At the next command prompt, type bootcfg / rebuild and press Enter . This command will scan the entire hard drive for what operating system you are using Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows NT and then it will show you results.
7- Next you will receive some messages such as the following when the computer is using Windows XP (if you are using another operating system, it is not much different):
- When you get the message below, just press Y.

- When you see the ' Enter Load Identifier ' message, type the name of the operating system you are using (Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition) and press Enter .
- When you see the message ' Enter OS Load option ', type in / fastdetect and press Enter .
8- Next, type Exit and press Enter to exit Recovery Console. Now, your computer will reboot and Windows will run 'sweetly' as ever. Good luck!
