How to Convert Word to PDF Online or in Microsoft Word

The most private and reliable way to convert Word to PDF is Word's built-in export, because the document stays on your computer. An online converter is convenient when Word is unavailable, but it requires uploading the file and may impose daily limits, subscriptions, or retention rules.

Best option: save as PDF in Microsoft Word

1. Open the DOC or DOCX file and select File.

   

2. Select Save As, then choose Browse.

   

3. Enter a file name and choose PDF (*.pdf) from Save as type. Merely adding .pdf to a Word filename does not convert the document.

   

4. Choose standard or minimum-size optimization, open Options if you need a page range or bookmarks, then select Save.
