7 must-have free Chrome utilities for Writers
You are a content writer responsible for website content, or an editor,. and are looking for tools to support your work.
1. Grammarly
Grammarly is one of my favorite Chrome extensions for checking grammar and spelling errors when writing in the browser. This tool checks for errors in over 500,000 apps and programs, including Google Docs and WordPress.
You can use Grammarly to check spelling, grammar, and syntax right in the writing interface without having to switch to another tab. This is extremely convenient during work.
2. Power Thesaurus
Power Thesaurus helps improve your writing style, helping you find words that match the content and style, as well as the purpose of the content.
After installing the Power Thesaurus extension, you can find synonyms or antonyms right in the working tab. If you find a better word, you can replace it with a new word that Power Thesaurus suggests.
3. OneTab
OneTab is a simple Chrome extension that saves selected tabs for later use. The utility organizes all tabs into groups. You can also use OneTab to restore previously closed tabs or share web pages. These features let you collaborate with colleagues or customers without having too many tabs open at once, avoiding losing what you're researching.
4. SEOquake
SEO tools are essential in the workflow of web content and blogging professionals. SEOquake is a free Chrome extension that makes it easy to evaluate websites from an SEO standpoint.
The tool provides comprehensive data on any website's word count, keyword prominence, links, and more. Just enter the URL, click on the SEOquake extension to have it filter the data you want.
5. Evernote Web Clipper
Evernote Web Clipper is a utility from the Evernote app that helps you save web pages, articles, and other online data to your account. The application even allows you to take screenshots of the entire page or just the part of the web page you want to save according to your needs.
6. Check My Links
When editing sites with many links, manual checking is time-consuming. However, the Check My Links utility will save this time a lot.
The utility will quickly find all the links on the selected page and check each one. It will highlight active links in one color and broken links in another. This will save time and avoid broken links in your content.
7. Similar Sites
Similar Sites is a Chrome utility that helps Writers research content and compare content between pages similar to the website you are viewing. To use Similar Sites, you click on the widget and the results display a list of similar pages for that same topic. The tool is very effective when collecting statistics and data, doing research, or finding competitors with pages or posts similar to yours.
