The content of the dubbing depends on the language used in the original video. If the original video is in English, it will be translated into French, German, Hindi, Italian, Spanish, Indonesian, Japanese, and Portuguese. If the original video was made in one of those languages, YouTube will only create an English dub.

For channels that have the feature, AI-dubbed videos will be automatically generated when the original video is uploaded, but creators can choose to preview the video before publishing it. According to the support documentation for the feature, YouTube also provides options to unpublish or delete the dub.

Right now, the dubbing doesn't sound very natural, but YouTube promises that it will get better at simulating "tone, emotion, and even atmosphere" with future updates. Here's an example of an English dub of a French video about making Au Gratin potatoes:

However, YouTube warns that "this technology is still fairly new and not always perfect ."
